It is said that Canary Islands are a paradise to enjoy some days in any moment of the year, but not only for the sun and the sea. The good weather that the Canary Islands have the whole year, make possible the outdoor activities. Today we talk about the sport paradise that get born surround the nature of the islands.

Trail, marathon or hiking

If we speak about running races with any runner probably said that the islands are a paradise. Events like Transvulcania, Transgrancanaria, Tenerife Bluetrail, Haría Extreme or Half MDS Fuerteventura are a jewel for trails lovers. Runners from different nationalities are coming to our islands to enjoy these sporting challenges.

Canary Islands offer a great variety of road races as well. The Gran Canaria Marathon or the San Silvestre Lagunera and some more are a interesting attractions for runners from different parts of the world.

 

If we talk about mountains, but in the case to practice hiking, we can make sure that islands like La Palma or Tenerife provide a wide path network. All the islands have original and unique landscapes you can discover through different paths.

 

Triatlhon

The triathlon has many challenges, but without doubt the most important is the Ironman Lanzarote, one of the hardest races of the world. The volcanic landscape of the island make more popular this event, as every year the number of competitors is higher.

Water sports

Sea is one of our main strong points, as there take place several events and activities, like for example boat races to cross the Atlantic Ocean or sea crossings with the best swimmers of the islands. Surf, windsurf and kitesurf championships are celebrated in Canary Islands, as here there are ideal conditions to practice this kind of sports. Competitions like Gran Canaria Wind and Waves, the World Cup Fuerteventura or the Quemao Class, amng others.

 

Bicycle

Cycling is also quite popular in Canary Islands. One of the most famous challenge is Fudenas in Fuerteventura. It has a tour of more than 150 km from the north to the south of the island, with the departure in Corralejo and the arrival is in Morro Jable. The 90% of the race is through paths and runways, as runners can enjoy the arid beauty of Fuerteventura.
