Lanzarote has many places to go with children and have an enjoyable day.  Children are naturally curious, for that reason we are sure that a visit to the Rancho Texas Park will be a great day for all! So, if you travel with the family this inform will interest you.

The only zoological park with pools in the Canary Islands

It is situated in the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen, in the south east coast of Lanzarote, known by its wide and quiet beaches. There is situated the Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park, the only zoological park with pools of the Canary Islands. It was built in abandoned properties that in the past were fill planted of tomatoes. Now, this place has become a great attraction, both the local population as well as tourists.

It has an area with different water attractions for adults and children. Also, it is possible to enjoy the whole day there because there is a restaurant where we can have something to continue enjoying the day.

With any doubt, this is a great combination that you certainly should remember for a long time: wild animals, shows, pools and sledges.

Animals species

The species in this place are numerous and varied. On one hand, they have exotic birds, like the Major Mitchell’s cockatoo (leadbeateri), the Coconut lorikeet (trichoglossus H. haematodu), or the eclectus parrot (eclectus roratus); and the birds of prey, like the Eurasian eagle-owl (bubo bubo), the bald eagle (halieetus leucocephalus), or the griffon vulture  (gyps fulvus), and many other interesting ones.

The mammals section is very varied, as they come from far-away lands, like the tiger (Panthera tigris), the American bison (Bison bison) or the California sea lion  (Zalophus californianus).

And of course, we can not forget the reptiles: the Aldabra giant tortoise  (Aldabrachelys elephantina), the Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis) or the Nile crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus).

We might not tell you everything, you have to come and see it with your own eyes. Without a doubt, it is an honour to have the chance to see these species so close.

Swimming with sea lions and dolphins

In Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park, it is possible to swim with sea lions or dolphins. But this place offers other activities for kids as well, like to ride a pony, look for gold in an Indian village or canoeing. And for all ages, in the fast food restaurant you can enjoy a real show from the far West: the cowboy lasso and whip exhibition.

A tribute to the Canaries who founded San Antonio of Texas

From some years ago, the centre has decided to gather all information, as much as possible, about the settlers and founders of San Antonio town in Texas. With this, they want to transmit and disseminate all the information about men and women from Canary Islands, who went to far away lands looking for a new future.

Without a doubt, Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park will surprise you.
