Cuervo Volcano and Colorada Mountain
In our collection of trekking routes in Lanzarote, today we invite you to discover the “Cuervo Volcano”, located in the area where the volcanic eruption took place in 1730, and the Colorada Mountain, where these eruptions ended.
START: Leave the car in the parking you can find in the Tinguatón road LZ-56, it is situated about 2,5 km away from Masdache.

SLOPE: 150 metres TYPE: Circular (Round trip)
DURATION: 2 hours and 30 minutes
TAKE ACCOUNT: The path is signed with information panels of the area. It is recommended to wear comfortable trekking shoes and sun cream.
Volcán del Cuervo
We find the departure point to the Volcano Cuervo in a parking in the Tinguatón road LZ-56, in the left side if you come from the South or in the right side if you come from the North. It is situated about 2,5 kilometres away from Masdache and 3 from Mancha Blanca, just before the poster with the name of Tinajo district. From there, over a volcanic ash bl
anket around a valley of malpaís begins our route, very easy and flat, what makes it able for all ages.
In spite of the aridity of the land, paradoxically you can see on the way some plants species like lichens, tabobos, tabaibas and verodes. Some posters about the geology of the area are situated in different points of this footpath that will leave you in the volcano, as we have to border it from the north side to the right to see the entrance of the crater.
Once you are there, a lot of sensations will catch the hiker. The different landforms, the amazing views of La Geria, the geological mix giving a result of stones with curious forms and the variety of tonalities of the mountain with stony silence, will charm all visitors.
To go out from there we take the same path and carry on around this volcanic cone to the western side, where we can enjoy a beautiful panoramic of the Timanfaya National Park, as we are getting closer to the east side, arriving to the parking we started.
Colorada Mountain
Very close hear, a kilometer and a half away, it is situated in the right side Colorada Mountain. This section of the path we can do it by car across the road LZ-56, but also we can go by foot crossing the road and carry on in the e
ast direction going through Black Mountain and keeping on in a trail of volcanic sand to the north side, traversing a route to reach the Colorada Mountain. Once we are in the east area of this cone, we can see a striking volcanic bomb of 30 metres. As we are going round the north side, we can contemplate an old volcano, Ortiz Mountain, an in the west side it is Las Nueces Volcano. A few metres away from here we are already in the Colorada Mountain parking, where we would finish the route. If we would have left our car next to the Cuervo Volcano we would return the way we came in the south direction until there.
After this route through the The Volcanoes Natural Park, we could visit La Geria, where we can spend the day enjoying this unique landscape and visiting some of the picturesque wineries of this area.
