Some months ago we took you the path that goes around the north of the eight island, La Graciosa. Today, we bring you an alternative route where you could enjoy the south of the little canarian island where, in addition to the singular landscapes, you could have a dip in its crystal waters.
ROUTE: La Graciosa (south area)
START: Caleta de Sebo
DISTANCE: 11 kms DIFFICULTY: Medium
SLOPE: 156 meters TYPE: Circular itinerary
DURATION: 2 hours and a half (without into account the time we dedicate to take a dip.)
We start our route in Caleta de Sebo, where you will have the opportunity to buy some water, fruit or any snack to spend your day because on the route there is not places to buy something to eat or drink
We take direction to the inland till the are known as Piedra de los Sargos. The path is pretty good because is a sand trail where is easy to walk and with not much slope. When we arrive to the coast we could see how the wild sea crash over the rocks (take care in this area and keep away from the shoreline.)
From here take the path that goes to the south of the island, by the inland, because we take direction to the Montaña Amarilla. It is high recommended to climb to the top of this volcano if you do this route. The views from the top are impressive. Take into account that the ascent is by a narrow path and is important to have a suitable footwear (we do not recommend you to do it with flip-flop or sandals because you could slip and the fall will be painful..)
To the descent take the same path. Once you are down, it is time to enjoy and relax, the Cocina beach awaits you. A beautiful place where the turquoise crystal waters contrast with the yellow and ochre colors of the volcano.
When you feel that is time to come back and left this little paradise behind (it would be difficult) you only have to follow the path that goes along the coast. Go through the Francesa beach and El Salao beach to arrive again to Caleta de Sebo.
Let us give you an advice, we recommend you to see the sunset from La Cocina beach or from the top of the Amarilla mountain, with no doubt it will be an unforgettable experience.
TIPS:
- Do not forget your swimsuit, towel and sunscreen.
- It is recommendable to wear suitables shoes to walk because there are rocky paths.
- We recommend to get some water and any snack because during the route there are not places to buy something to eat or drink. The unique place where you will find supermarkets, restaurants and bars is in Caleta de Sebo.
