A different kind of hiking experience
Lunar Landscape is a 6km walk that plunges us into the fascinating geology of the island. It begins at the Parque Natural de los Volcanes, where the famous Timanfaya eruption began in 1730.
The trail crosses iconic places such as Montaña Colorada, Caldera de los Cuervos and Cortijo de la Geria. This is where you will discover the history of the 1730 eruption, which sent lava streams towards Tinajo but miraculously stopped, saving the village and its Virgen de los Dolores hermitage.
Along the way we will see how nature has adapted to the extreme conditions of the volcanic environment. The contrast between the red ash, ochre and black of the solidified lava and the sporadic green vegetation that is beginning to reclaim its space is one of the highlights of this trail.
The route takes us through the Parque Natural de los Volcanes, which is directly linked to Parque Nacional de Timanfaya, one of Spain’s 16 National Parks, declared in 1974. The importance of Timanfaya lies not only in its spectacular volcanic landscape, created by the eruptions of 1730-36 and 1824, but also in its role as a place of great geological and cultural interest.
The Ruta de los Volcanes (inaugurated in 1968) and Timanfaya are inextricably linked, both offering a window on the powerful volcanic activity that has shaped Lanzarote. César Manrique and the Cabildo of Lanzarote masterfully promoted this link, transforming these landscapes into a space for art, culture and tourism.
This itinerary offers you a beautiful walk through the nature of Lanzarote and a complete perspective of the influence of these natural phenomena on the island.

Bookings include a deadline to cancel or modify without any additional fees. The modifications or cancellation before the deadline do not included any fees. In case you modify or cancel after de deadline we will apply the fees indicated in the Cancellation Policy that appears in the voucher and in the booking confirmation.
In general, users could cancel more than 72 hours in advance of the activity without any additional fees. We will proceed to refund the total purchase amount. However, if the user cancels more than 25 hours and up to 71 hours in advance of the activity, we will proceed to refund the 50% of the purchase amount. In any case, if the user cancels the booking within 24 hours prior to the date of the activity/service the user shall not be entitled to any purchase refund.
