TRAVEL ITINERARY:

Boat route from Fuerteventura to Lanzarote

The tour to Lanzarote from Fuerteventura will start from the Corralejo port, located in the north of Fuerteventura, where we will start a ferry crossing of approximately 30 minutes.

Arriving at the Playa Blanca port in Lanzarote, we will head towards Timanfaya.

Excursion to Timanfaya from Fuerteventura

The first stop on our tour begins at the Islote de Hilario, where we will see the geothermal displays of greatest geological interest and explain why it is important for the history of the area.

After this first point we will start the so-called “Route of the Volcanoes” in the Montañas del Fuego (Fire Mountains) to visit this fantastic lunar landscape in the Timanfaya National Park.

Timanfaya is an obligatory and essential stop on our tour to Lanzarote from Fuerteventura, as it is the only National Park in the Spanish Network of National Parks that is eminently geological, declared a National Park in August 1974.

On this tour you will discover why Lanzarote is called the island of volcanoes. In the Timanfaya National Park you will find a rugged landscape with volcanoes and virgin lava fields. You will also discover the predominance of black and reddish tones that show the passage of the volcanic eruptions that took place on the island.

After the eruptions that took place between 1730 and 1736 and later in 1824, the island was completely transformed, burying many villages and giving rise to geomorphological structures of great beauty.

In order to respect the conservation of this park, we will start the guided tour at specific points enabled for public access. Throughout the tour we will explain every detail about the geology and history. Admiring and learning about the biological richness of this park will be one of the main points of the visit. without forgetting the biological richness of the park, with numerous plant and animal species.

Once we have finished our visit to the Timanfaya National Park, our next stop will be La Geria. This is a peculiar wine-growing area of Lanzarote where there is an abundance of unusual vineyards that we will enjoy surrounded by a unique landscape created by the island’s vine growers.

Thanks to the aridity of the land, the volcanic landscape and the climatic conditions of wind and water, the winegrowers have developed an ingenious and peculiar way of cultivating vines based on holes called “gerias”. In addition, we will visit one of the wineries and taste one of the typical wines of the island.

We will have lunch en route (included in the price) before continuing through the centre of the island to the north. Here we will discover the volcanic tunnel of Los Jameos del Agua.

This natural attraction located in the municipality of Haría, is an essential place to visit on our tour from Fuerteventura to Lanzarote. Los Jameos del Agua is a natural space originated inside a volcanic tunnel where you can see a unique geological structure. In this space, César Manrique, knew how to transform the environment and enhance its beauty even more, so you can enjoy the first culture and tourism centre created by César Manrique.

The next stop on the route will be the Charco de los Clicos, next to el Golfo. Declared a nature reserve, this formation is a volcanic lagoon with an intense green colour located in a partially submerged crater, creating a contrast between the green of the lagoon and the surrounding volcanic landscape. Here we will explain why it has such a unique colour!

On our way back to the south of the island we will drive along the Costa de la Lava (Salinas de Janubio/ Hervideros) to return to Fuerteventura.

this tour was great, I highly recommend it. Our hotel was on the south of Fuerteventura and it was a bit longer travel to get to Lanzarote and back (the driver picked us up around 5:45 am and we arrived back to hotel around 7:30 pm), but it was really worth it. The excursion was very nice planned, at every stop we had enough time to explore and make some nice pictures and videos. We really enjoyed this tour.

    Muchas gracias.
