Trekking “The water route”, El Hierro
In this Water Route and along 16 kilometers we will know different landscapes of El Hierro, and we will even cross a Monteverde forest.
We will start our route from San Andrés, the highest town in El Hierro. We are at about a thousand meters of altitude, and in some sections we will check what the horizontal rain is, so it does not matter if it is winter or summer, a windbreaker will not weigh us in the backpack and can be very useful. The trail is marked with the international PR signs, a parallel white and yellow stripe. Also, on the posts of this path you will see a tree with two drops of water. The first thing that will catch our attention is that we will walk along the side of a volcano, stepping on reddish picón.
We will make the first stop in La Albarrada. They are the ruins of what was one of the first settlements on the island. Albarrada means wall, and therefore, if we look closely, we will see a wall that surrounds what remains of the town. The second stop will be in Los Dornajos, where we will see some wooden dornajos that collect the water distilled by the cedars thanks to the trade winds, which produces horizontal rain. The collected water was used to water the animals.
We will arrive at the Garoé Tree, and we recommend that you enter to see it. They say that in addition to water, it distils magic from each and every one of its leaves. Why was this Tree so important? Because he was the one who gave the Bimbaches (the first settlers of the island) to drink, and he was also the culprit of the conquest of El Hierro.On the way you will also find a large number of pools (water tanks) that the bimbaches dug to collect the water horizontal rain.
We will continue visiting the monteverde, the area of Las Quinteras and the town of Tiñor, to finally return to San Andrés. Our recommendation: enjoy the landscape, walk slowly, let yourself be carried away by the sounds and the smell of the mountains, wet earth in winter, flowers in spring, dry grass in summer …

In general, users could cancel more than 72 hours in advance of the activity without any additional fees. We will proceed to refund the total purchase amount. However, if the user cancels more than 25 hours and up to 71 hours in advance of the activity, we will proceed to refund the 50% of the purchase amount. In any case, if the user cancels the booking within 24 hours prior to the date of the activity/service the user shall not be entitled to any purchase refund.
