Christmas is here! And with it the switching on the Christmas lights and the assembly the crib. This year we have created a route for you to enjoy the most famous nativity scene of the island to have a different day while you get into the Christmas spirit.
The route begin in the South and end in the North. Are you ready to enjoy Christmas?
Route of Nativity scene in Lanzarote
Head towards Yaiza, a village full of history situated in an unique location. White houses and volcanic landscape to welcome Christmas. Here there is a typical nativity of Lanzarote. The most special places of this municipality are recreated in miniature to form a traditional nativity that every year receives more visitors.
From here take direction to the road that border the National Park of Timanfaya and get into a magical landscape to arrive to the following stop. Tinajo welcome us with a “live” nativity scene in the San Roque square: chickens, goats and some kid make themselves at ease close to the peasants houses that look forward the 24th of December. Walk around the square while Christmas carols sound is a traditional christmas stamp.
Go towards the North to continue the route in the village of Haría. The “valley of the thousand palm trees” could be with no doubt the typical place to every nativity scene. The village is an oasis of vegetation dotted with the white houses with green doors and windows. A comfortable square where neighbours meet. And a perfect place to walk under the majestic trees till the “aljibe” (tank), where the nativity scene takes place.
And the last stop will be Teguise. Cobble-stoned alleyways and a bit more cold receive us in the old capital of the island. Here tradition and modernity walk hand in hand. From far away is possible to distinguish the illuminated nativity on the slope of the mountain . But also, near to the Town Hall is the traditional nativity scene that every year is organized there.
