January is the month of transition between Christmas and the beginning of the new year’s resolutions. Here you have an overview of the unique and popular festivities of the Canary Islands that you should not miss.
February and March are synonyms of Carnivals in the Canary Islands. Los Indianos in La Palma. the great parade of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the Gran Canaria Drag Queen contest or the Achipencos in Fuerteventura are not only a tourist appeal but also a tradition to every canarian.
In April is celebrated the religious events that take place during Holy Week. Religious processions and offerings are held in the every Canary Islands, but highlight the religious events of La Palma and La Orotava in Tenerife.

May is known as the month of the flowers. Cities like Santa Cruz de Tenerife or Santa Cruz de La Palma dress up to celebrate the traditional festivities. The Festivity of La Cruz is also celebrated in El Pinar, in El Hierro island.
Popular festivities of summer
June is the month to get ready for summer and in every corner of the Canary Islands is easy to find a Romería. If you want to know its traditional music, its folklore, amaze you with the music of the timple and its gastronomy, you cannot miss a romería that are celebrated in every village of the Canary Islands. Highlights the romería de San Isidro Labrador in La Orotava. Also it is very famous the festivity of San Juan in every island with its traditions and bonfires.
In July during the festivity of El Carmen lot of vessels set sail as a tribute to the Virgin. It highlights the maritime procession of Arguineguín in Gran Canaria or the festivity in Puerto de La Cruz in Tenerife. The water party in Puerto Naos, La Palma, a traditional summer party in the coast.
August begins with the festivity of La Rama in Agaete, continue with the Youth Week in Gran Tarajal and end in Lanzarote with the festivity of Famara. A month totally enjoyable!!
Like every September the summer goes to an end, but in the Canary Islands celebrate it in great style! The festivity of El Pino in Gran Canaria, Los Dolores in Lanzarote or La Peña in Fuerteventura will bring the summer festivities to a close.
October smell like Autumn and in La Gomera is celebrated its main festivity: the Virgin of Guadalupe. Other tradition in every island at the end of the month is Los Finaos: chestnuts and wine accompany the coolest nights of the season.
In November the adrenaline pumping with the party of Tablas de San Andrés in Icod de los Vinos. A tradition that are still celebrated year after year.
We say goodbye to December enjoying a different Christmas. Warm temperatures, good weather and sun will join us. If you like hiking this month in Lanzarote you will have the hiking encounter with which you can get to know the most unknown places on the island.
